Glasses Chains & Cords

Eyewear chains and cords are the highest-margin, lowest-weight item in an eyewear accessory range, and the one most often bought on impulse at the counter. A customer who has just chosen a frame will add a chain that matches it; almost nobody comes in to buy a chain on its own.

Three formats, three jobs. Beaded and fine-link metal chains are jewellery first and eyewear accessory second – they are worn like a necklace and are the format that sells alongside fashion optical frames. Silicone straps with a connector tube are the practical option for sport, cycling, kids and safety eyewear, where the frame has to stay on through movement and a chain would either break or swing into the face. Slider-adjustable cords sit in between: one SKU covers 11 cm to 20.5 cm, so a single item fits a child and an adult, which is what makes them viable for a shop that does not want to stock three lengths.

Matching chain to frame. Weight matters more than most buyers expect. A slim metal frame with thin temples needs a light chain, or the frame is pulled off-centre; a chunky acetate front can carry a full beaded strand. Stocking one light and one heavy style lets a shop match the chain to the frame instead of defaulting to whatever is available.

Packing and branding. Chains ship individually bagged or mounted on a printed backing card for pegboard display, and cords can be bulk packed for counter jars. Custom card artwork and colour matching from 300 pcs.

Chains are normally ordered with frames and cases so everything arrives in one shipment – see the full accessories range, or email jim@shjmoptical.com for the chain catalogue.
