Description

Over-the-glass safety eyewear exists because a large share of the people who need eye protection already wear prescription glasses. Wearing a standard pair of safety spectacles on top of them is the usual workaround, and it works badly: two frames compete for the same bridge, both lenses fog, and the protective lens sits too far from the eye to do its job. This frame is built with room for that second pair instead. The front is deep enough to sit over a prescription frame, and at 42 g it stays where it is put through a full shift.

The front is a single moulded shape in black, with a grey temple that adjusts in angle so the frame can be set to sit level on different head widths. Clear polycarbonate lenses keep colour and depth perception intact, which is what matters where the job depends on judging material, colour coding or distance rather than on cutting glare. A 155 mm width and 55 mm lens height give coverage across the brow and down towards the cheek without pressing on the nose bridge.

Where this frame fits

  • Workshops and machine shops where operators wear prescription glasses under protection
  • Site and maintenance work with chipping, dust and flying particles
  • Laboratories and light chemical handling where front splash protection is wanted
  • Visitor and contractor programmes that need one stock size fitting over a wearer’s own glasses

What the test report actually covers

The frame was tested to ANSI/ISEA Z87.1-2015 by Shenzhen Boyuan Testing (report BYT23080215, August 2023) and passed. The figures worth quoting to a safety officer:

  • Luminous transmittance 90.1% left and 90.2% right, against a minimum of 85% for clear plano lenses
  • Haze 0.25%, against a maximum of 3% – this is the number that decides whether a clear lens still looks clear after a long shift
  • Drop ball impact passed on all four impact samples, left and right positions
  • Minimum coverage area passed
  • Ignition and corrosion resistance of metal components passed

Refractive power, astigmatism, resolving power and prism are all reported as compliant for the plano clear lens. One point worth stating plainly: the report records droplet and splash hazard as not claimed for this model. The frame stops particles and front splash, but it is not a sealed goggle. If a buyer needs sealed protection, say so and we will quote a goggle version instead of letting them assume this one covers it.

Buying notes for distributors

One size and one colour keeps this at a single SKU, which matters when safety eyewear is sold in packs to companies rather than to individuals: no size ladder to forecast, no left and right, no colour matrix. Because the temple adjusts in angle rather than in length, the same stock unit covers a wider spread of wearers than a fixed-temple frame of the same width. Ready stock is available from 12 pcs, so a distributor can test the model on a single order before committing to a container.

Logo printing, frame colour, lens tint and packaging can be customised from 300 pcs per style. Anti-fog coating on the inside is available and is worth specifying for humid workshops, where the difference between a coated and uncoated lens shows up within the first hour.

Full specifications are listed above. For samples, the test report or a quote on mixed quantities, send your requirements and we will come back with the details.

Frequently asked questions

Can these be worn over prescription glasses?
Yes, that is what the frame is designed for. The front depth and 155 mm width leave room for a prescription frame underneath, and at 42 g the weight is low enough that it does not slide forward during a shift.

Does the temple adjust in length or in angle?
In angle. The grey temple pivots at the hinge end so the frame can be set to sit level, which suits different head widths without adding a second size to the range. Temple length is 115 mm.

Is this model tested to ANSI Z87.1?
Yes. It was tested to ANSI/ISEA Z87.1-2015 by Shenzhen Boyuan Testing, report BYT23080215 dated August 2023, and passed on optical quality, haze, transmittance, drop ball impact, coverage area, ignition and corrosion. The report is available on request.

Is splash protection claimed?
No. The report records droplet and splash hazard as not claimed for this model. If you need sealed splash protection, ask for a goggle version and we will quote it separately.

Can the lens be tinted or coated?
Yes. Grey, brown and mirror coatings can be quoted on the same front, subject to the coating house’s minimum. Anti-fog on the inside is also available.

What is the minimum order?
Ready stock ships from 12 pcs. For OEM with your own logo and packaging the minimum is 300 pcs per style. For mixed orders or a specific carton breakdown, send what you need and we will confirm availability.
